The Sign of the Blessing of Abraham Today
The Blessing of Abraham
Who are the true children of Abraham and what is that blessing?
The blessing of Abraham is that which the children of God entered into through faith in Jesus Christ. Yet the church today, as in the days of Apostle Paul, choose a scholastic salvation, departing from Christ. God addresses the church today as he did through Apostle Paul, to come again to the full understanding of the blessing of Abraham and the true inheritance of the Spirit through Jesus Christ.
Galatians 3:1-7 & 16-18 KJV
1 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
4 Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain.
5 He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
6 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.
7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.
8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.
16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.
17 And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.
18 For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.
Expounding & Reading from Galatians chapter 3 verse 1.
Vs 1 “O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?”
Apostle Paul is helping the Christians in Galatia who heard the good tidings of the covenant and embraced them, having received this seal. . . he is helping them to identify themselves as the true children of Abraham.
So we see how the apostle Paul, in this chapter, first expounds to them the reason for the engrafting of the Spirit. Having been enlightened and having received this engrafting, it is for the purpose of increasing the appetite of spiritual things concerning the powers of the world to come.
They heard the good word of God and were made partakers of the powers of the world to come. We see this in Hebrews chapter 6 concerning the enlightenment and the engrafting of this seal, and the instruction of this knowledge and also this experience that follows your faith.
So here he says, “O foolish Galatians”
In other words, can't you see the true pattern I taught you and why you need to listen to me and not to those who are unconverted. So,
“O foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you."
Now the word bewitched means to put under a trance. And this trance happens when those of scholastic thinking visited them, appealing to them to join their faith to Moses again.
So, Paul’s addressing this. You're trying to explore the spiritual things with your intellect rather than attending the altar for the purpose of your experience. We attend as priests of this covenant, priests of the Lord Jesus Christ, we attend the things of the covenant at His altar. So that as we partake of the meat of the altar we receive these gifts.
These gifts accompany those who are of faith. But the gifts of Christ do not accompany those who are unconverted. And we'll read on here concerning this blessing.
"That you should not obey the truth" he says here.
Who has put you in the trance so that truth is now undiscerned? We know what truth is. So highlight the word “truth”.
Truth has to do with those facts that are consistent with God's character, purpose, and plan.
The truth is Jesus Christ. We worship God in Spirit and in truth.
Spirit has to do with the invisible tokens. Truth outlines the terms of the covenant, which has an outflow in our behavior, which speaks of how we are responding to truth.
That is, how we reciprocate to these gifts of God.
How do we respond?
What is our responsibility to this grace?
These are the pillars Paul established for them.
So, now that he has seen how they have deviated from the truth and he is asking, “Who has bewitched you?”
Does the Law bring your heart into subjection to God or the Spirit?
Does your submission involve your intellect and your logic or does it involve the hearing of grace?
The law plays with your logic, but the Spirit works with grace to draw faith from the heart. So we read verse 1 again:
“O foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you."
You’re frustrating the grace of God as he says in chapter 2 verse 21, "I do not frustrate the grace of God." Now the word frustrate is a form of hindrance. False knowledge hinders grace. In other words, doctrines of devils becomes blockage in the conscience. It becomes unprofitable tokens in your closets, so it becomes blockage in the conscience.
My Children are For Signs and Wonders
So he says,
"O foolish Galatians who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth before whose eyes."
Now when he says "before whose eyes" we're talking about God who does signs in His record, the record of Christ. The signs of Christ accompany the record He provided for us.
And this is what God said in the book of the prophet, " Behold, I and the children whom the Lord hath given me are for signs and for wonders." (Isaiah 8:18)
Who are the children of God? Those whom I adopt to myself by my Spirit.
Signs and wonders will accompany them. The sign is that God’s children follow a different rhythm than that which is of the nature of man. It is a sign.
A sign is a token that represents something that is not seen. It is not seen by the carnal eye, but is seen by the Spirit. So, signs and wonders accompany the children of God. This is the blessing of Abraham! God established the blessing in Abraham by communicating to him saying,
“And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.” (Genesis 12:3)
I, being the invisible God, will communicate to you and give you signs and wonders which the unconverted will stand amazed and wonder at. But these things will not convert them. Knowledge will convert them. The knowledge of my grace will convert the heathen.
This gospel is what we are preaching. These good tidings is that which accompanies the anointing, even as the prophet said, "The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me" as he said in Isaiah 61:1. When the Spirit of the Lord is upon that stewardship which the anointing now works with, signs and wonders will follow. Unusual phenomena accompany those who believe the report. (Isaiah 53:1)
This we see in the 9 tools of the covenant.
We talked about these things before: the gifts, callings, and graces of God; prayer, preaching, and prophecy.
Truth again, is facts that are consistent to God's character, purpose, and plan. So that which is consisted to God's character will follow those who worship him in Spirit and in truth. Those who follow the record of Christ worship Him in Spirit and in truth because the Father seeks such to worship Him. The Father desires this form of contact and communion for fellowship.
So we go on here,
"before whose eyes Jesus Christ has been evidently sent forth crucified among you"
to become our record. Because He is the seed of Abraham that gave us hope in the Abrahamic blessing.
Now verse 2
Vs 2 "This only will I learn of you (you Galatians), received you the Spirit by the works of the Law or by the hearing of faith."
Highlight the word “Spirit” because we are going to see this in the next couple of verses. The word Spirit is connected with the hearing of faith, which is the voice of grace.
The hearing of faith for the voice of grace.
So "receive you the Spirit by the works of the Law?"
Did the Law (which has to do with how we define our moral sense, our moral code is defined by the Law.
It addresses these things of the state of our conscience being defiled).
So, was the Spirit engrafted within you when you followed the restrictions of the Law?
Did the Law bring this enlightenment, or by the tidings of the Spirit, the tidings of grace?
We see that when a person steps back into the Law to express faith in Jesus Christ, they are repeating the error of the Pharisees. The Pharisees were steeped within the instructions of the scholastic salvation, but Jesus said of them, “You are the children of the devil and the works of Satan you will do”.
Satan is trying to recreate a spiritual experience by removing the hope as he did with Adam. He removed the hope of Adam from the revelation which God gave to him into that which was of his own carnal thinking. This is false knowledge.
The idolatry of this world is false knowledge which works in the children of disobedience. They are called the children of disobedience because they are laboring with false knowledge. And when you labor with false knowledge you are identifying yourself to God's wrath and not His mercy.
God’s mercy is in His tools and we are vessels of mercy because His tool is engrafted within us. We're vessels of mercy because the tokens of the Spirit are engrafted within the hearts of the righteousness. This is what He is inscribing within us in this new covenant.
As the prophet said, “This is the covenant I will make with them after those days saith the Lord, I will put my laws in hearts and in their minds will I write them.” (Hebrews 10:16)
The engrafting of the Spirit is for the purpose of the true regeneration.
True regeneration is the experience which gives us the true testimony of Christ. This is what we prophesy. We prophesy of Christ. That is, of this new experience which He is engrafting in us, by which we are learning of Him. So we learn of Christ through this engrafting of the work of regeneration and the renewing of the mind.
Vs 3 “Are you so foolish, Galatians, having begun in the Spirit, are you now made perfect by the flesh?”
That is, the moral code of the Law? The moral code of the Law has no sign that accompanies it.
The sign of God's engrafting is that which is of the Spirit and not of the letter. Because the Spirit confirms the Word, which is the true brightness of God.
We read of this in Hebrews chapter 1,
"Who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person and upholding all things by the word of His Oath.”
We are those who are upheld, who have believed in Him, who are now upheld by the Word of His Oath and that Oath was given to Abraham. He swore by Himself for this engrafting.
So, “are you so foolish?”
Highlight the word "foolish". The word foolish has to do with the logic of one's passion. You read this a lot in the book of Proverbs. The stewardship of Solomon brings the contrast between the wise and the foolish.
This is also given within the proverbs of Jesus (the wise and the foolish).
The 10 virgins for example, 5 were wise and 5 were foolish.
The foolish settled into the passion of their own logic. But the wise settled within the revelation. So their vessels were full weren't they? They settled into the revelation and attended the door of the stewardship, but the foolish wandered off. And the foolish, wandering off, they were living within the passion of their own logic, which is the wandering of the broad way. This is called the wilderness Christian or the wilderness believer. They wander into the broad way looking for wells, but we drink of Him. We are those who wait at His door.
This is the door of the conscience where the judge sits. So again, "You foolish Galatians.” Are you so foolish? The gospel which we preached, did it have a logical appeal, or did you feel the life giving force of this knowledge. As Jesus said, "The words I speak unto you, they are Spirit and they are life." (John 6:63)
The knowledge I speak impacts the soul and enlightens the mind doesn't it?
It unclogs the conscience and allows the free flowing waters of grace to water the soul to give life. So your soul becomes as a watered garden. But who has cluttered that garden or who has cluttered the door, as to stand in the way? Your logic!
And this is what Paul says, "Are you so foolish, have you begin in the Spirit..." Highlight the word Spirit again in verse 3 and draw a line from the word "Spirit" in verse 3 to the word "Spirit" in verse 2. So that as you study these things later, you can see these connections.
The blessing is in this connection.
That's why Jesus breathed on His apostles. He blessed them.(John 20:22)
Now you are going to see the connection that I am the second Adam.
The first Adam provided a shell of flesh, but I am the second Adam and I am providing you the shell of My Spirit. So He breathed on them showing the connection: I am that true breath of life. This knowledge which I am breathing within you will give life to the soul, which is the true habitation or temple, which I am inhabiting for your sanctification.
So again, “Are you so foolish, having begun in the Spirit, are you now made perfect by the flesh,” (the Law of the moral code). Are you allowing the moral code to define your faith or are you allowing the Spirit to define your faith?
We are those which worship Him in Spirit. We’re speaking here of the invisible tokens:
Speaking in tongues is an invisible token, which was given on the day of Pentecost, which has to do with the beginning of the church age, signaling the end times, these last days. So, are you now made perfect by the flesh?
Vs 4 “Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain.”
This speaks of the work of regeneration, which I brought out earlier. The troubling which came with the circumcision of the heart, is it is of no profit to you now? The experiences that you received which has to do with your accountability to Christ (that is why your name is written in the Lamb's book of life, because you are accountable to Him through these tokens).
The tokens He has provided for us through His government, the stewardship.
The 3-Fold cord: government, truth, and Spirit.
The knowledge that is consistent with God's character. purpose, and plan. Truth speaks of the person, the things which are spoken, which has to do with the work of charity and its product which is the fruit of the Sprit.
The fruit of the Spirit is a direct result of this virtue, which knowledge now gains entrance into the soul. So therefore, God has provided for you an abundant entrance into His kingdom by these tokens.
Have you suffered so many things in vain?
The work of regeneration, did it blind you? Or did it open your eyes. Why, it opened your eyes. But the Law closes the conscience so you are put under a spell called bewitched.
The false religious system is bewitched because believers are trying to serve God with physical tokens, which are the tokens of that first covenant. These tokens are seen in the physical communion, physical baptism (water baptism), the physical tithe, the physical circumcision, which is that of the flesh, the observance of the Sabbath day, which has to do with the physical day of the week, whereas we worship God throughout the week in Spirit and in truth. The Spirit is not subject to time. So Jesus, being the Sabbath man, provided for us a new day within Himself.
We can see the Sabbath Man unfolded in the holy city.
It needs not the light of the sun to shine by day nor of the moon to shine by night because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the light of it. The Sabbath is fulfilled in Himself.
Those who observe the Sabbath day deny the stewardship of Christ, not realizing that they are observing a physical token. Whatever is subject to time and springs of the soil is cursed of God. That which Adam sprang from is accursed of God, which is the soil. So the dust shall return to dust because death accompanies the dust. Death does not accompany the Spirit, death accompanies the dust. Now look at verse 5,
Vs 5 “He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?”
"He that ministers to you the Spirit"
Which is the invisible tokens, which are the signs and wonders.
The blessing of Abraham accompanies those of faith.
"He that ministers to you the Spirit and works miracles among you,” which is the signs and wonders. He is speaking here of that which is common to the believer.
Does He it through the works of the Law, the compulsion of the text?
Does the text itself birth these things? Or is it by the hearing of faith? So highlight that again. You notice the Spirit is repeating Himself.
Those who hear the word of this grace, suffering the trouble of the struggling of the inner man, they suffer the trouble or pain of the circumcision (which has to do with your growth).
Grace and suffering are coupled together by the Spirit. Upon the hearing of this grace a struggle begins within the womb of your soul. We can see the revelation of this given to Rebecca. Her womb was barren and she was married to Isaac, which stewardship he received of Abraham. The stewardship of Abraham was passed on to Isaac. The prayers of Isaac were heard and so was Rebecca's prayers heard because she was joined to Isaac who was the chief steward of that time, the time of the Abrahamic covenant.
Those who are joined to the stewardship find refuge within this house and remission of sin is given to them.
We see that in Rebecca joined to Isaac, remission was granted to her and a blessing came forth. God heard her prayer.
Now when the blessing of Abraham came forth in her petition a struggle was found within her womb. And it was revealed to her by the Spirit that 2 nations are within your womb. And this has to do with the nation of the flesh and the nation of the Spirit. We also struggle within ourselves to bear the fruit of Christ, but that which is second is more powerful than that which was first.
The first, which was the flesh is the tradition of man.
The second is the tradition of God, which is of faith and covenant
So Jacob being the younger was going to rule over Esau, which was the elder. Though the elder wanted to murder the younger. And we see the struggle within our own soul.
"Have you suffered so many things in vain?"
Didn't you bring forth fruit by the knowledge you received from me, through the stewardship?
Remember, the Law closes the conscience. The conscience being defiled becomes blockage to His grace. If your conscience is filled with the tradition of men that means your ears are clogged. When your ears are clogged your understanding becomes dull.
"Now he that ministers to you the Spirit?"
Who is HE? God who gives you these gifts.
I the Lord give you these gifts that in blessing I will bless you. We are children of Abraham by faith in Jesus Christ. So, God who gives gifts to those who believe (that reflect, rehearse, and reciprocate) this knowledge will receive gifts of tokens.
These gifts of tokens shows ownership. In other words, this is the dowry of God for our mating with Him. These tokens and gifts is a dowry of God for the purpose of our mating to be joined to Him, that we might be married to Him and not to another or stranger. If we are joined to another we are called adulteresses because we are not bearing for God's house we are bearing for someone else. We ought to be bearing for Christ or we are bearing for Satan.
The tokens of the Spirit that are granted to us, the tokens from above, these are to bear His image (likeness) by His tokens. When we were in the world under the influence of Satan, we bore fruits that were unprofitable. We bore the fruit which was a vexation to the soul and it put us in a state of confusion. We did not know who we were anymore. We didn't know who we were when we were bewitched of Satan. We didn't know what to identify with.
But now having received this engrafting, being born of the Spirit, we know who the true tree is because we are engrafted into the true vine. As Jesus said, "I am the true vine and My Father is the husbandman." He's the one that inspects the fruit. Seeing that we bear this engrafting, we bear His fruit and we know which tree we were engrafted in. We were engrafted into that true hope, Jesus Christ.
“He therefore that ministers to you the Spirit and works miracles among you, does he it by the hearing of the Law or by the hearing of faith?"
We are children of Abraham as our ears are becoming circumcised and our heart becomes circumcised, our thinking becomes the perspective of God. Now look at verse 6. . .
Vs 6 “Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.”
You can understand this with more clarity.
"Even as Abraham believed God"
EVEN AS Abraham believed God!
So we are identifying with him aren't we?
Abraham reciprocated to the revelation that was granted to him and he departed from the house of the flesh to begin a new journey with the house of the Spirit. And he followed that angel which led him to the land of Canaan. Abraham did not know where he was going, he was only listening to the voice of God's grace and we also as children of Abraham, we live within the expectation of our hope, don't we? EVEN AS Abraham did.
“Even as Abraham believed God.”
Highlight the word "believed" which means to acknowledge, to mold with, and to submit to.
Abraham acknowledged the revelation, and he submitted to the revelation.
That means the revelation was his burden. And the revelation of this gospel is our burden to bear even as Jesus said, "Take my yoke upon you and learn of me for my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
We take on the burden of the token.
The burden of the token is what we reciprocate for our faith to be complete and to abound and increase in our charity. So we are counted as sheep for Christ. My sheep hear my voice and they know my voice.
Just as I heard the voice of the Lord when He spoke my name. And that was back in 1972 or 73. I heard the voice of the Lord calling me name twice and God was accounting me as His sheep and I reciprocated to bear this yoke of that revelation. Now look at verse 7.
Vs 7 “Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.”
So we bear his likeness in faith and reciprocate to the blessing. The scriptures were written for this purpose.
Vs 8 “And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.”
“The scriptures, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen”,
Which we can all identify with; all those born of the flesh are heathen towards God. Now that we are born of the Spirit we are counted as sheep.
“For the scripture foresees that God would justify the heathen through faith”
We are now following a new pattern, preached the gospel to Abraham saying "In you shall all nations be blessed," (Gen.22:18). Now that's us.
Let's jump over to Genesis and I want to show you another interesting blessing. So, let's jump over the Genesis chapter 28 and start with verse 3,
“And God Almighty bless you and make you fruitful and multiply you."
Highlight the word "bless" in verse 3.
"God Almighty" is the same reference made in the book of Revelation 21:22,
"And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it."
God is blessing us with Himself. God assigned Himself as our blessing. This is why He came in the flesh as Jesus Christ, to become the token of this blessing.
Jesus being our Sabbath, Jesus being our token, and Jesus being our point of contact for transition from flesh to spirit. And also from spirit to flesh as Jesus showed us after his resurrection, we also will be able to do, through this transforming power we are able to transform ourselves from one form to another form, even as Christ showed us. (This blessing is reserved for the millennial reign of Christ upon the earth).
“God Almighty bless you and make you fruitful and multiply you that you may be a multitude of people."
Now we're going to see further what this blessing is.
When Israel blessed Jacob he said,
“And give thee the blessing of Abraham, to thee, and to thy seed with thee,” (Gen. 28:4).
For I give you the blessing of Abraham. I, as Isaac saying, speaking to Jacob, I am giving you the blessing of Abraham your grandfather. As his stewardship carried the revelation of God in word and in deed I also carry the revelation of God in word and in deed and you also carry the revelation of God in word and in deed as apostle John wrote about in his first epistle to show this completion in Jesus Christ.
The patriarchs carried this same sign and pattern: revelation, resistance, and reward.
We carry this same sign and pattern in our hearts.
The revelation of grace, the resistance (the struggle in the womb) and the reward (the birthing of fruit).
The blessing is in this sign and pattern.
Genesis 28 verse 4 goes on to read,
“I will give you the blessing of Abraham to you and to your seed after you that you may inherit the land wherein you are a stranger.”
The “land” of promise is not an earthly inheritance. Even as Abraham understood by revelation and stated,
“By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise. For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God. These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.” (Heb.11:8-10 & 13)
“For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.” (Heb. 11:14-16)
Again, the land of promise is not an earthly inheritance, but the baptism of light, to enter again into the bosom of the Father. Right now, in this dimension, you are strangers and pilgrims.
Your speech is different from that of the world because your speech is of faith.
Our language is the language of faith which is the pure language.
God has restored in the church in this second 8th week the pure language of this covenant. By this pure language of the covenant our charity works life within us.
So highlight the word blessing in verse 4 of Genesis 28 and draw a line from the word blessing in verse 4 to the word "dreamed" in verse 12 and we’ll see another sign and blessing of those who are in Christ.
This sign and blessing that is passed on to us as Joel the prophet said,
"And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions. And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit." (Joel 2:28-29).
So you can see the blessing of Abraham is through the spiritual experience.
The false religious system puts the experience into the history. We put the experience into the covenant.
The false religious system puts the experience into the history (that is the Jezebel gospel). But we, as children of Abraham, put the blessing within the covenant. It was always within covenant.
Always in covenant. "To give you the blessing of Abraham."
Now let’s look at the sign of the blessing Joel spoke of.
Jacob laid him down to sleep and he dreamed and a ladder was set up to heaven. This shows us a spiritual tether.
What was that tether?
We see the tether and tutorage of angels and the angels descending and ascending upon it. This was confirming Jacob to be the key of stewardship that would pass from Isaac to Jacob. This is why God said, "I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.”
Jesus established this “way” to God through Himself and established the key in a priesthood and stewardship for His covenant for the blessing of the church. And this is what God is restoring to the church today: stewardship and priesthood.
This is what Jesus said to Mary in the garden. “I am going to ascend to your God and my God and to your Father and My Father.”(John 20:17)
The blessing of God is in the stewardship and priesthood.
Naturally speaking, when a person thinks of God blessing the earth, they think about both the sun and moon by which the earth brings forth its bounty. Spiritually, the sun is symbolic of the priesthood and the moon is the stewardship and through the stewardship of the moon and through the priesthood of the sun the church would be blessed.
