The Faith of Jacob: Testimony of Acknowledgement
As the apostles prayed together they made an interesting observation saying “Lord you are God”
And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them. And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is; (Acts 4:23-24).
Notice that they did not project any outcome other than God’s direct involvement with their present circumstances.
“God You Created”: Statement of Resolve
Believing and knowing that they are in covenant with God they showed confidence in His involvement and willing yielded themselves to the outcome of His counsel without deliberation or provocation.
Look how the heathen examined the faith of the three Hebrew men in the book of Daniel.
Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king's word, and YIELDED their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.(Daniel 3:28).
We admire such confidence in their faith just as Nebuchadnezzar did and this confidence made him reassess his own beliefs just as the apostle Paul writes in Philippians.
The apostles yielded their bodies to the will of God and trusted in His resolve. This was not just a romantic idealistic willingly initiated incident as some today seek to prove their loyalty to God and a boasting of the religious aspiration which provokes emulation out of the heart rather than true faith.
Some seek the flagellation of the heart to feel worthy of God’s love, whereas God seeks faith which pleases Him. It must be the product of His grace and not the boasting of the flesh.
And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were COUNTED WORTHY to suffer shame for his name. (Acts 5:41).
An Ancient Practice for Modern Times
Even the heathen will seek the honour of man through the abandonment of their personal safety as the apostle Paul writes in Romans;
For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would EVEN DARE TO DIE. (Romans 5:7)
Jacob jeopardised his life to return to Isaac his father departing out of the house of Laban the Syrian. Jacob reflected upon all those things which he learned from both his father Isaac and his grandfather Abraham.
He observed their reflection upon the revelations which they received in visions and dreams and personal visitations of the Lord. Each revelation of His grace unfolded the terms which faith must be expressed to be accepted of God. This was sealed in the blood of a covenant.
Throughout his life Jacob faced the contradictions of sin. He overcame great and many obstacles by his practice of faith in the covenant. Now after having done all to stand, Stand therefore... as the apostle Paul writes in Ephesians.
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and HAVING DONE ALL, to stand. (Ephesians 6:13).
Jacob facing the evil day reflected upon the testimonies of God and surrendered his imagination to faith and excepted the wisdom of God’s resolve and said If I be bereaved of my children I am bereaved.
And God Almighty give you mercy before the man, that he may send away your other brother, and Benjamin. If I be BEREAVED of my children, I am BEREAVED. (Genesis 43:14).
He did not abandon his faith, he abandoned his own resolve to control the issue at hand.
We see another example of servitude in Esther. Prudent in her counsel she observed the laws of her king. As the apostle Paul said in Romans.
Let every soul be subject unto the HIGHER POWERS. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. (Romans 13:1)
Because it is God that rules we take confidence in His resolve and not in our own devices.
This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High RULETH in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men. (Daniel 4:17)
The church today has lost hope in their faith which is seen in the inventions of the many devices in political persuasions and social issues. Their prayers center on the worlds conformity. This has not happened yet and will not happen.
Yet the pursuit comes in the waves of promise that if the 10 commandments were in the schools or social programs were implemented then there will peace and prosperity of the nation. No this will not happen either.
See what the Lord says through Zephaniah the prophet. Her prophets are light and treacherous persons: her priests have polluted the sanctuary, they have done violence to the law. The just LORD is in the midst thereof; he will not do iniquity: every morning doth he bring his judgment to light, he faileth not; but the unjust knoweth no shame.(Zephaniah 3:4-5)
The church is lead by misguided ministers who initiate their aspirations from the pulpit or otherwise addressing those social or political issues as if voicing the mind of God. Thus was the practice of those false prophets in ancient times. These replaced faith in the covenant with the passions of the flesh and use this passionate drive as evidence of their faith. This is known as the traditions of man and the gospel of men.
Esther though yielded her will to the resolve of God. God then took vengeance on the house of the Jews enemy Hamon.
Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I PERISH, I PERISH.(Esther 4:16).
The Example of King David
And the king said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah? so let him curse, because the LORD hath said unto him, Curse David. Who shall then say, Wherefore hast thou done so?(2 Samuel 16:10)
This man of faith again teaches us servitude and longsuffering in the midst of oppressive circumstances. (Hebrews 11:32).
Here he has the power to control his circumstances yet king David reflects upon the revelations that were given to him and shows self-control through his longsuffering.
The church today must reflect upon the true pattern given to us through His apostles and surrender to God. Only faith in His covenant will birth this fruit. If the motive is for the honour of the aspirations then the results will be frustration and confusion.

|What are the Weapons for Spiritual Warfare?|
|Most believers do not know that when God commanded man to fight the good fight of faith, He had specific weapons in mind. |When Jesus said, "I have kept them in Thy NAME"; He was showing the tether (bond) of charity where the work of His cross will effect the faith of those that believe. In this pattern only is there remission of sin. The Lord said to His apostles after His resurrection in John 20:23. "Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained" that the life of the saints will be built upon this pattern which the stewardship will perform. more...|
