Perfect faith: Is perfect faith possible?

Perfect faith

Perfect faith is possible; in fact it is a requirement of God that we serve Him in perfect faith. Yet people reason the idea of perfect faith on the same premise of their frailty which denotes that faith cannot be perfect because man in his frailty is not perfect. This reasoning holds merit in saying that faith cannot be perfect when placed in man or in the framework of the flesh, that part is true, but faith can be perfect when placed in God.

What is perfect faith?

Perfect faith has to do with our joining to God and our joining to God is through His covenant. When God speaks of perfection He is referring to the manner in which we join ourselves to Him for the purpose of expressing faith. “You shall be perfect with the Lord your God” (Deuteronomy 18:13). This means that God has made provision for our faith to be perfect and the provision for perfect faith is within Jesus Christ and what He established for our faith.  Jesus Christ is perfect as is the work of redemption that He brings upon our souls and through this our faith takes on the expression of the perfect works of God.

“Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect” (Matthew 5:48)

When we join ourselves to God through the three-fold cord of government, truth and spirit we join ourselves to Him by that which represents Him in full. His perfection is seen in these tokens and by our joining to Him through these tokens our faith takes on that substance that resembles Him, making our faith perfect.

Perfect faith is in covenant

Those that claim that perfect faith is impossible have been incorrectly instructed. God did not set the standard for our faith in Christ and then leave man to experience a void, as if faith continuously misses the mark. God does not set a command and not make provision for it. Rather, when man sought to chisel images of himself into His knowledge rather than remaining within pure doctrine, faith no longer stood perfect reflecting God, but instead it reflected man (Matthew 15:9). God does not associate with anything less than Himself and therefore we say that faith is void of God if not joined to Him. When faith is errantly placed in the things of this world or within the framework of the flesh it bears the mark of darkness, but when faith is placed within Jesus Christ it meets God’s approval and man is declared righteous. As God continues to counsel the heart in righteousness, His perfection is made manifest as He sees Himself reflected in man’s soul.

Jesus Christ as the pattern for perfect faith

Perfect faith is possible when it is in the second covenant of Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ, being the prototype of our faith, set the pattern for man to follow; meaning that He set a spiritual pattern for our faith to establish man in Him so that man may take on His image and likeness. It is impossible to take on the likeness of Christ apart from the pattern that He set for faith, just as it is impossible to have perfect faith apart from what God sanctified for faith. Christ alone qualifies us before God because He is our justification, when faith is rooted in Him then our faith is perfect.

“Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.” (Hebrews 13:21)

The operation of God’s perfect work is within the second covenant of Jesus Christ. Through our joining to God by faith in covenant our souls are bestowed into His care and we in turn experience His peace, love and joy. Through this good work Christ is formed within us and God knows us by His fruit.

Perfection comes from God, is birthed within through Christ and takes root in fruit; that is the evidence of perfect faith. Through this we know God and please Him (John 15:8).
