There are many false teaching about healing in the atonement that make believers stumble. (Pexels)
Untying the Knot of the Atonement
By Apostle Eric vonAnderseck
God is now untangling the confusion many believers have about the atonement. Do you want your faith to reflect Jesus Christ perfectly?  Of course you do. Then you cannot allow half-truths and doctrinal error to govern your faith.
What is a half-truth? A half-truth claims something that is true about God, but is not according to the terms of the new covenant (wisdom of God), and therefore the knowledge is misdirected by the wisdom of man. So then, the claim is not truth. It does not represent Jesus Christ perfectly, it is a truism that represents the heart that has wandered from God.
A truism is like a hall of mirrors you might see at a carnival, whereas images are distorted and misshaped and a path is laid out between the mirrors that seems impossible to follow. A truism is distorted doctrine. A truism may sound good as the minister applies scripture to himself and his needs, but it is a distortion of Christ and leads faith on a path between multiple paradoxes.
In this article I want to focus your attention on the half-truths that are embedded in the doctrine that says that healing (for the physical body) is a provision of the atonement.
When these ministers say that God saves, they mean that God wants to heal your physical body so that you exhibit perfect fitness and perfect health every day, all the time. It’s yours for the taking, if only your faith was strong enough to grab it!
Without doubt, the gift of healing is real, but as all the gifts of the Spirit, it is as the Spirit wills. You cannot claim a gift (1 Cor 12:11). It’s this simple:
1. Salvation is in the atonement (the covenant stewardship, knowledge, tools, and priesthood Jesus shed His blood to provide).
2. Healing is in the gift.
3. Deliverance is in regeneration.
All are in Jesus’ propitiation as He mediates the covenant as you use His tools. When your faith is driven by half-truths you will always be trying to untie the many paradoxes that accompany each doctrinal distortion.
Faith Distorted
The belief that the healing of bodily ailments is in the atonement is a philosophy that presents many paradoxes to faith (hall of mirrors) because it forces faith down a road that God never intended.
Believers under this bewitching persuasion spend their entire Christian life going through this hall of mirrors, trying to find their way out, trying to find a way to bring correction the distorted images they see along the way.
Their whole Christian life is wrapped around claiming something they do not experience. They can’t understand why they are struggling, why this is so hard, why they are sick, why they cannot seem to knock down the many perceived barriers despite their valiant efforts.
Let me state again, there is no doubt about God’s ability to heal the physical body. It is a gift of the Spirit, but it is not the focus of your faith. Apostle Peter focused believers on the daily work of the Spirit to form the divine nature of Christ within the soul (2 Peter 1:4-9).
There are many half-truths that God is addressing in this season of apostolic change. God is bringing out in the open the hazards of allowing half-truths to govern your faith. When the gospel is preached in half-truths believers always fill in the blanks with error.
Although many books have been written to try to resolve their own paradoxes, ministers have not resolved anything because each paradox only produces more questions. You cannot bring resolve and equity to the paradoxes you created. These doctrinal quagmires must be abandoned and completely circumcised from faith.
We are going to untwist a few of the infamous half-truths that got twisted and bent into the healing in the anointment doctrine. Namely,
1. the mustard seed faith,
2. the binding doctrines, and
3. the fig tree faith.
Once these teachings are seen from God’s perspective, Satan’s cloak of deception will be removed. You will be able to discern how each of these doctrinal crimes share the same rotten core –substitutionism.
The Mustard Seed Faith
Matthew 17:20, “ And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.”
Mustard seed faith labours first with revelation (grace) so as to expound Christ for faith’s increase in the fruits born in the soul by the anointing, thus returning to God in the fulness of Christ.
The revelation of grace for fruit bearing seems small to those whose eyes are constantly on the horizon, looking for the benefits of Christ in health and wealth. The healing of the soul seems insignificant to the aspiration of man whose habit is to take the things of God for himself.
His presumptuous inclination is to prove the Bible to be true so he’ll have a means to test God. He wants a testimony for his confidence. He is not confident in the fruits of the Spirit sown in the heart. The carnal minded believer wants to walk on water, he wants to slap people on the forehead, he wants to talk real fast as if under the influence of the anointing, and he wants to proclaim the kingdom of his aspiration as the voice of God.
Here’s the thing: Walking on water isn’t the test of your faith. The aspiration would love to achieve this for self-validation to say, “See my faith! It works for me! God does the impossible for me!”
Those held in the trance of admiration would also seek an equal validation of water-walking, people-slapping, and fast-talking. We see this today with unrighteous ministers seeking to substitute their aspiration in place of the anointing to claim that God is advancing their ministry. But they are merely being ostentatious.
Ostentatious: “Intended to attract admiration or notice.” (
The Binding Doctrines
Matthew 16:19, “And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
God didn’t leave the keys on the table in the hope that “someone” would grab them.
Jesus was speaking to His stewards whom He was training to build His house, not to pursue private ministry.
Matthew 18:18-20,  “Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.  For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”
Jesus didn’t direct this knowledge toward the novice, but to His apostles whom He sanctified by His name and kept in His Father’s name. The Godhead wasn’t to be severed from the knowledge. Christ is to remain the hub of His government. This puts Jesus in the midst of our fellowship and not just as an invited guest as some say, “Let us invite the Lord into our presence”, which is an open admission that He is not present, but rather absent.
The rhetoric sounds spiritual to the undiscerning ear, but reveals the nakedness of the soul, which is heard in their boastful ignorance.
The Fig Tree Faith
Matthew 21:21, “Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.”
The fig tree example is often used to approach God to gain His blessing by achieving a great feat. Notice Jesus’ instructions begin in prayer, which requires God’s approval and then a gift for any action we perform here on earth in His name. This tether is required, but not for personal gain, or any aspiration of man.
Jesus didn’t suffer on the cross for our boasting of the flesh (which false minsters practice), but for our learning and patience of faith, which requires His revelation, which works charity.
This Abraham learned as he was so instructed of God. Abraham’s faith wasn’t in pretence when offering Isaac, or in the performance of his circumcision.
Pretentious:  “Acting as though more important, valuable, or special than is warranted; appearing to have an unrealistically high self-image.” (
Seducing spirits use knowledge against Adamites to redirect faith in God’s covenant into the record of self. Influencing those religious guided minds to psychoanalyze the effects of the defiled conscience to find peace.
Substitution is Birthed from the False Atonement
Matthew 24:11-12, “And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.”
Substitution freezes faith to die on the vine. As believers wander further from the fire (anointing) their faith dies, for it is destroyed by frost and hail.
Satan’s roots of iniquity are fed by ignorance to sprout thorns and briars. This is the cursed ground. This pattern resulted in God’s wrath for centuries. It also birthed a hypocrisy that even turned the stomachs of the wicked to the point of blasphemous doctrines such as evolution, fascism, communism, and atheism.
Such a clever use of wasted time. Satan yoked his victims of ignorance with circles of bitterness, envy, strife, and hate driven lives. Satan hid the face of God from His own creation by the veil of this ignorance and put words of hatred in the sinner’s mouth to “dam” every inequity of life by attributing it to our Creator who did indeed promise eternal redemption for those in His covenant, but wrath against those who break His covenant.
Isaiah 24:5
The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant.
Why the False Atonement Births Substitutionism
The worst deception was sown in the first century by apostate believers penning dogma for their organizations that birthed substitutionism. These apostate writings were preserved by scholars that couldn't discern truth, but felt obliged to keep these records for future generations.
These men were not apostles, but merely translators. They tried to set order to their understanding by drawing upon different documents in such a way that would convey their own struggles.
Theologians selected from these texts the teachings that would most compliment their own belief system, hoping truth would emerge by syntax.
Syntax: “A set of rules in a language. It dictates how words from different parts of speech are put together in order to convey a complete thought.” (
1 John 3:18, “My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.”
Traditions emerged and Satan wove his own doctrinal suggestions for their thinking to substitute the true faith in the priesthood of Jesus’ covenant with biblical role-play and organizational structures that honoured the wisdom of the flesh.
Jeremiah 9:23
Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:
1 Corinthians 3:21
Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are your's;
God gave us a covenant in Jesus’ atoning sacrifice to bind us to Himself, not for us to display our own rules.
The root of this history plagued the church for centuries with schisms and religious wars. The ecumenical movement was developed to resolve these fractions, but resulted in much theological wilderness wandering.
Substitutionism put any human dilemma into the atonement to claim its results, thus using God’s compassion to claim Biblical accuracy and to promote it as truth. This resulted in fables. Ministers would boast, “Why do we need apostles if we can achieve results on our own using Biblical principles and promoting steps to this success?”
They claim, “If God has given us this power to move mountains we only need to select which mountain, and initiate or release the power by confession or declaration of the text.”
They reason, “God’s grace is in my efforts and will favour me.”  This practice removes the humbleness of patience in faith to a form ostentation and frustration, which manifests in their teaching, “Where am I missing it?”
Here we see the paradox Satan weaves into their theology of healing in the atonement.  As a minister uses Greek grammar to justify their selection of choice to fight their battles of doubt, Satan is ruling their perceptions by the lack of results. So they seek perfection through multiple repentances and the law of Moses.
Now they are on a journey of their own condemnation resisting grace. Despising government they are lawless to His kingdom. Apostle Peter calls these ministers “cursed children” .
2 Peter 2:14
Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children.
Hebrews 10:29
Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden underfoot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
Trampling underfoot the blood of Jesus’ covenant they now slip in the blood of beasts, hoping in a salvation that will never come. They will die in their sin by the lie of their own making.
The Great Tribulation awaits the disobedient that made a trade, substituting Christ with their own doctrines. The record of man hardens the heart to grace and God confirms this with hail mingled with fire and blood.
Revelation 8:7
The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.
The ungodly defile Jesus’ atonement leaving the heart cold of His anointing. Their gospel is fruitless of Jesus’ divine nature and God will cast all liars into the lake of fire. Regardless of the title they claimed, or denomination they associated with, or how many articles they wrote for religious magazines, those who defile Jesus’ atonement seal their own doom.
Special Miracles
Acts 19:11
And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul:
1 Corinthians 12:9
To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
 1 Corinthians 12:28
And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
If healing is in the atonement then we all would all have the gifts of healing, which would happen every time we pray. We would initiate this gift at will.
1 Corinthians 12:30
Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?
Did Paul backslide or lose his faith when it came to Epaphroditus and Trophimus?
The apostle Paul didn’t formulate the process of healing by saying, “Just confess the word brother Epaphroditus for Jesus is your healer.”
2 Timothy 4:20
Erastus abode at Corinth: but Trophimus have I left at Miletum sick.
Philippians 2:26-27
26 For he longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because that ye had heard that he had been sick.
27 For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.
There’s no such thing as a healing ministry or deliverance ministry, but the church must accept God’s wisdom in all challenges that face our faith and petitions (2 Tim 4:20).
The Oil Ministry of the Apostle James
The apostle James in his area of establishing God’s government in the church received grace from God about using oil for healing. This token was used by the Spirit at this time to show the brethren the connection between the refuge of his stewardship and the Body. That the revelation he received was as the lamp of the Lord.
James 5:14
Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
The name of the Lord is in the tokens of His ownership. James was instructing the church regarding the soul is God’s temple and your priesthood must labour with the revelation of the stewardship for healing. This word of knowledge was only relevant for the assemblies of the apostleship of James not for the common use of those that read his testimony to role-play or formulate the process.
James learned this from observing Jesus who would one time use clay to heal or another to speak a work only. What about Peter’s shadow ministry? Did this happen every time?
False Wisdom is The Jewel of Gold in the Swine’s Snout
Proverbs 11:22
As a jewel of gold in a swine's snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion.
Baal (seducing spirits) appears to the aspiration as a pleasant gift. The scripture seems to speak about everything their flesh lusts after and so this “gold” of the swine is pursued (healing in the atonement), but its value is lost because it has been connected to the doctrine of man.
The doctrines of man is Baal. That is her name and folly is her meat. She dines on the desires of the flesh. Even as Satan defiled truth in the garden of paradise so also do his ministers defile truth in the house of God. Satan’s aim is to fill God’s garden with weeds.
